SUMMARY:Soura Film Festival | 2nd Edition
DESCRIPTION:After months of hard work, we’re very excited to finally share with you our 2nd Edition of Soura Film Festival, taking place from October 1st till October 4th at Oyoun.\nThis year, we are reflecting on the true meaning of pride and what it means for us as a Queer Film Festival which focuses on the Middle East & North African region, and the importance of normalizing diversity and queer inclusion in cinema.\nOur selection this year includes quite an array of feature and short films with a fresh and modern look on queerness in the region, ranging from pressing issues to long-standing traditions.\nA special section in collaboration with XPOSED Film Festival is also part of our program. Moreover, part of film and queer culture is embracing tradition and remembering our history in order to move forward in the right direction, so we’re proud to add a Retrospective section this year which includes some understated classics.\nIn addition to films from Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan, Iran, Morocco, Israel, Egypt, Sudan, Afghanistan and Azerbaijan, we are happy to include efforts by Turkish filmmakers this edition, given Turkish cinema’s pivotal contribution to the film industry.\n////////////////////PROGRAM////////////////////\nFEATURE FILMS\n– ‘Futur Drei’ (2020 ) by Faraz Shariat\n92 min – Fiction – Germany\nGerman, Farsi, Arabic [Eng sub]\nOPENING FILM / October 1st – 19:00\n– ‘Birds of the Borderlands’ (2019 ) by Jordan Bryon\n90 min – Documentary – Australia\nArabic, English [Eng sub]\nOctober 2nd – 19:00\n– ‘Reborn (Love Trilogy)’ (2019) by Yaron Shani\n108 min – Fiction – Israel, Germany\nHebrew [Eng sub]\nOctober 2nd – 21:30\n– ‘Meanwhile in Beirut’ (2020) by Felipe Monroy\n50 min – Documentary – Lebanon, Switzerland\nEnglish, Arabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 3rd – 22:00\n– ‘Tlamess’ (2019) by Ala Eddine Slim\n120 min – Fiction – Tunisia, France\nArabic [Eng sub]\nCLOSING FILM / October 4th – 21:00\nSHORT FILM PROGRAM 1\n– ‘The Last Paradise’ (2019) by Sido Lansari\n14 min – Docu-Fiction – Morocco, France\nFrench [Eng sub]\nOctober 1st – 21:30\n– ‘ÌZ’ (2019) by Salih Salman\n9 min – Fiction – Turkey\n[No Dialogue]\nOctober 1st – 21:30\n– ‘Our Way Back’ (2018) by Moshe Rosenthal\n26 min – Fiction – Israel\nHebrew [Eng sub]\nOctober 1st – 21:30\n– ‘All Monsters Are Human’ (2019) by Hugh Davies & Helen Spooner\n21 min – Documentary / Animation – Azerbaijan, UK\nAzerbaijani [Eng sub]\nOctober 1st – 21:30\n– ‘A Short Film About: Modern Love’ (2020) by Omar Abo\n4 min – Fiction – Egypt\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 1st – 21:30\nSHORT FILM PROGRAM 2\n– ‘Rupture Divine’ (2019) by Malak Mroue\n20 min – Fiction – Lebanon\nArabic, French [Eng sub]\nOctober 2nd – 17:00\n– ‘Queens’ (2020) by Youssef Youssef\n29 min – Docu-Fiction – Switzerland\nFrench, English [Eng sub]\nOctober 2nd – 17:00\n– ‘Hide & Seek’ (2016) by Mark Karam\n8 min – Fiction – Lebanon\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 2nd – 17:00\n– ‘The Art of Being a Sinner’ (2017) by Ibrahim Mursal\n20 min – Documentary – Sudan, Norway\nArabic, Norwegian [Eng sub]\nOctober 2nd – 17:00\nSHORT FILM PROGRAM 3\n– ‘What’s Left of Home’ (2019) by Antoine Maksoudian\n17 min – Fiction – Lebanon\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 3rd – 17:00\n– ‘Reset’ (2019) by Ali Shams\n16 min – Fiction – Iran\nFarsi [Eng sub]\nOctober 3rd – 17:00\n– ‘Ayaneh’ (2019) by Nicolas Greinacher\n14 min – Fiction – Switzerland\nDari, English, Swiss German [Eng sub]\nOctober 3rd – 17:00\n– ‘The Guest’ (2017) by Hakim Mastour\n19 min – Fiction – Tunisia\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 3rd – 17:00\nXPOSED Love Letters\n– ‘Tomorrow Everything Will Be Alright’ (2010) by Akram Zaatari\n12 min – Fiction – Lebanon\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 4th – 17:00\n– ‘Letter To My Mother’ (2019) by Amin Maher\n20 min – Documentary – Iran\nFarsi [Eng sub]\nOctober 4th – 17:00\n– ‘Mondial 2010’ (2014) by Roy Dib\n19 min – Fiction – Lebanon\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 4th – 17:00\n– ‘Collage’ (2019) by Sadeq Es’haqi\n14 min – Fiction – Iran\nFarsi [Eng sub]\nOctober 4th – 17:00\n– ‘The Sea Runs Thru My Veins’ (2019) by Zara Zandieh\n21 min – Documentary – Germany\nGerman, Farsi [Eng sub]\nOctober 4th – 17:00\nRETROSPECTIVE\n– ‘Lola and Billy The Kid’ (1999) by Kutlug Ataman\n97 min – Fiction – Germany, Turkey\nTurkish, German [Eng sub]\nOctober 3rd – 19:30\n– ‘Red Chewing Gum’ (2000) by Akram Zaatari\n11 min – Essay – Lebanon\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 4th – 19:30\n– ‘Cinema Al Fouad’ (1993) by Mohamed Soueid\n41 min – Documentary – Lebanon\nArabic [Eng sub]\nOctober 4th – 19:30\nPANELS\nQueering the Conditions of Film Production\nOctober 3rd – 15:00\nRevolting Queers\nOctober 4th – 15:00\nFor more info about the program and to buy tickets, visit our website:\nhttp://sourafilmfest.com/\n—\nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/360818871761390/ ( https://www.facebook.com/events/360818871761390/ )\n
