This FAQ responds to questions revolving around the topic of protecting refugee women and girls against violence. It begins with a glossary that clarifies key terms and their consequences for female refugees. The glossary will be amended and updated as required on the websites of bff and FHK.

The FAQ then continues with a number of questions that are categorised according to ten broader topics. Some of the questions recur because they belong to different topics at the same time.

It is important to note that legal regulations frequently change in this field. This FAQ is concerned with the legal situation as of December 2020. This FAQ can’t replace a legal counselling, it can only help with general information and give a first orientation in legal questions.

V. are delighted to present the English and german versions of the FAQ document that provides responses to frequently asked questions on legal regulations at the intersection of flight and protection against violence. The document has been prepared by the Association of Women’s Shelters (FHK e.V.) and the Federal Association of Rape Crisis Centres and Women’s Counselling Centres (bff e.V.) and in close cooperation with the lawyer Barbara Wessel.

The FAQ begins with a glossary that clarifies key terms and their consequences for female refugees.

Neue Brüvken für Berlin – WOMEN’S WELCOME BRIDGE geht in die zweite Runde

Nach dem Start des Projektes WOMEN’S WELCOME BRIDGE im November 2016 wurde das bisher auf der Website verfügbare Sprachenangebot Deutsch und Englisch nun um Arabisch, Farsi, Französisch und Türkisch erweitert.

Darüber hinaus wird WOMEN ́S WELCOME BRIDGE die Webseite ab dem 16. Juni in allen Berliner Bezirken an verschiedensten Orten mit Infoständen vorstellen. Auf Märkten, der IGA und bei unterschiedlichen Veranstaltungen werden auf mobilen Geräten die neuesten Angebote, Gesuche und Möglichkeiten prasentiert, die Webseite zu nutzen.

Die Idee von WOMEN’S WELCOME BRIDGE ist es, geflüchtete Frauen durch ein niedrigschwelliges Angebot mit ehrenamtlich engagierten Frauen und Fraueninitiativen in Berlin zusammenzubringen. Das Projekt der Geschäftsstelle Gleichstellung der Senatsverwaltung für Gesundheit, Pflege und Gleichstellung in Zusammenarbeit mit „Raupe und Schmetterling – Frauen in der Lebensmitte e.V.“ hat in den ersten Monaten bereits zahlreiche Frauen miteinander in Kontakt gebracht: 200 Frauen profitierten bisher vom Angebot auf der Website. Neben Privatpersonen haben auch rund 70 Initiativen ihre Angebote veröffentlicht.

„Frauen, die Unterstützung bei Behördengangen oder beim Spracherwerb benötigen, werden hier genauso fündig wie Frauen, die sich zu einem Tierparkbesuch oder zum gemeinsamen Kochen verabreden möchten. Wir freuen uns, dass die Vielfaltigkeit des Projekts so gut genutzt wird und dass wir geflüchteten Frauen neue Chancen eröffnen können“, so Dr. Gabriele Kämper, Leiterin der Geschäftsstelle Gleichstellung.
