On 11. December 2020, Jennifer from IWS gave a talk on anti-Black racism and resistance through self-organization for the third event of the BeVisible Herbseminare series organized by Trixiewiz e.V. The theme for the day was transnational, transcultural and interreligious conflicts. IWS participated alongside Iris Hefets from Jüdische Stimme für gerechten Frieden in Nahost and Hajdi Barz from Romani Phen.

Goods are free to circulate in the world but our bodies are not allowed to circulate in the world. That is the anti-Black racism that we are talking about.

At the event, members of IWS talked with the audience about our work, the Lager reports and the COVID situation for refugee women* in lagers, and what “space” means to them.

The event also featured discussions with members from un.thai.tled, the Smells Like Collective, and the African Food Festival who spoke about the role of food in migrant and BIPOC communities. And, of course, there were many delicious Thai treats and incredible food from Pandanoodle.

Follow the #Mygration Festival Facebook and/or Instagram to learn more about future events and read about stories of food and migration!
