Panel – Talk „Solidarisch gegen die Bezahlkarte“

The “payment card” (Bezahlkarte) expresses the full extent of racist paternalism. There has always been resistance to such state attempts to deter people and keep them out of Germany, as well as solidarity strategies that serve to help refugees maintain autonomy over the use of scarce resources.

Women, intersex and non-binary people are particularly affected by the paternalism associated with the payment card, because it reinforces patriarchal conditions and relationships and makes liberation from them more difficult. An alliance of initiatives has been formed across Germany with the aim of pulling the colonial teeth out of this system and to undermine it – or even better: to avert it. After all, why install something for many millions if it only costs money?

The discussion will be held with Rose Wanjyko, an activist from International Women* Space, with Verónica Troncoso from Space2grow and with Elif Eralp, a member of The Left Party in the Berlin state parliament.
