Talk: Empowering Queer Migrants in Berlin
We cordially invite you to the discussion “Empowering Queer Migrants in Berlin: Needs, Challenges, and Best Practices for Civic Participation”, organised by Cinemova.
Date and Time: November 19, 2024, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, followed by a get-together. Berlin Global Village, Am Sudhaus 2, 12053 Berlin.
Together with our guests, we will discuss the needs, challenges, and achievements of queer migrant communities in Berlin, with a particular focus on their participation in decision-making processes. We will address the specific challenges faced by queer migrants and refugees in Germany: from gender-based violence due to homophobia and transphobia to intersectional discrimination and the search for safe spaces. In addition to analyzing existing barriers to participation, we would like to discuss existing solutions and learn from the experiences of diverse communities. The focus will also be on the question of how existing support structures for queer migrants and refugees can be made accessible and safe, and what the needs of queer BIPoC refugees and migrants are.
The event will take place in the format of a fishbowl discussion and will be held in English with translation into Ukrainian.
