Since the war in Ukraine started, Europe has shown an unexpected, fast and unbureaucratic response welcoming refugees fleeing Ukraine. This reaction was not extended to BIPoC refugees fleeing the same bombs. IWS has teamed up with EOTO, ISD and Migrationsrat to collaboratively support BlPoC refugees arriving in Germany.

Our collective effort, in addition to finding accommodation, consists of:
Provide a warm daily meal, access to legal and psychological support, accompaniment and translation when necessary to contact immigration authorities.
Access to alternative spaces for learning German.
Offering welcoming spaces where people feel they belong, where people can rest, feel safe and calm to decide what direction they will give their lives.
Provide opportunity for refugee BIPoCs to connect with the city through the support of our broad network of individuals, organisations and institutions.
